From Student to Practitioner; race, racism and social work

Aim:

To explore the experiences of BAME students and practitioners of social work education and practice, using a co-production, participatory framework, and make policy and practice recommendations to the CWMTP.

Objectives:

  • To engage and recruit BAME students and social work practitioners and establish a research participation group, to meet regularly (within a 6 month period) to co-produce research data on ‘The experiences of BAME social work students and practitioners of social work education and practice.’
  • To adopt a Participatory Action Research (PAR) methodology underpinned by an Anti-Racist framework, to allow for BAME students and social work practitioner engagement and participation.
  • To analyse data, write up and disseminate findings.
  • To make policy and practice recommendations identified by the research participation group to the CMSWTP
