student placement opportunities
Sefton Council has a population of 275,100 people and covers Southport and Formby, Crosby and Waterloo, Seaforth and Litherland, Bootle, Aintree, Thornton, Netherton and Maghull.
Children’s Social Care works with partners to promote prevention and early intervention and to ensure that there are clear and effective arrangements to protect children and young people from harm. There are placement opportunities in teams with expertise in the following areas;
- Referrals, Children and Family Assessments, Parenting Assessments, direct work with children, Strategy Meetings, Section 47 Investigations, Child Protection Plans, Child In Need (CIN), Care Proceedings, initial Adoption process, Therapeutic Services.
- Working with multi-agency partners, Foster Carers, residential staff, life story work and attachment, telephone duty, chairing CIN and Core Groups.
Adult Social Care undertakes statutory duties under pieces of legislation including the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Mental Health Act 1983. There are placement opportunities in Adult Teams with expertise in the following areas;
- Mental health, older adults, learning disabilities, transition from Children to Adult services, individuals involved with the criminal justice system, substance misuse.
- Care Act 2014 eligibility for services, Care Co-ordination, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards, undertaking capacity assessments, working with Best Interest Assessors, safeguarding. hospital discharge, multi-agency working.
